| I have used the DVR daily for just over a year.Pros:DVD RAM format superior to +/- RDigital TunerOverall featuresCons:No HDMI on this model (some have it)Slow (annoyingly so) to change channelsUnreliableProne to lock-ups requiring resetsWho should buy this unit? Avoid this unit, especially used ones.The unit regularly crashes requiring a reset. It does this about once a month. This was okay to deal with. Just after a year of owning it the unit refused to eject a cassette I had checked out from the library. I searched the internet and found this was a common problem. I opened the DVR and manually ejected the cassette and it was fine, turned out it was a jammed cassette (I don't know why it couldn't eject it instead of throwing error codes). A week after the cassette problem, the unit failed to eject a DVD. Same problem, looked on the internet and saw this was a fairly common problem. No electronic device should be this much fuss, especially one that cost me $280 new. |

| Do not buy this product. It works for about two weeks and then has problems from viewing a dvd/vhs to recording a program. You can send it in for service, but the service at Panasonic is slow. We have owned this unit for 4 months, it has been in service 3 times and we have physically had it in-between for 6 weeks, all this other time Panasonic has had it at their repair center and can't seem to fix it. I suggest buying SONY, not panasonic. |

| In August 2007, our old DVD/VCR combo quit about the same time I bought an HDTV. I looked into upconverting players and discovered this one. The first player would not work on the HDMI cable (deduct one star). The regular VHS output and component outputs worked fine. I called Amazon who immediately shipped another player. This player has worked great ever since then. The upconverter with an HDMI cable is a noticeable improvement over the regular DVD player with component cables. I definitely recommend this player to anyone with a high-def TV.James |

| Despite the Sam's Club price that made me think it would break in a month, this video player/recorder has now lasted two years of basement kid's movie playing - which during the winter can be daily. The instructions are vague and you have to fuss with it intuitively (I'm not good at this and get frustrated)to make it do some of it's more "complicated" feats, but work it does. For the price, you can't beat it. |
